more about fibreon
Julian started working with Fibreglass at 18, making ventilation covers in Dudley. After four years he became manager, before moving to Quantum Sports Cars in Stourbridge. After just a month he became GRP manager, looking after 12 people making high-class components for tractors and sports cars. After three years he left to join RDL in Cradley Heath where he was the main mould maker, building a variety of things from 40-foot wagon sides to space-ship interiors (for flight simulators!).
When Fletcher Boat Builders took over and closed down RDL, Julian moved to Team Central in Birmingham, where he worked as a panel fitter. A couple of years later, Julian and his business partner started up Central TVR & Fibreon Ltd at Dadsford Bridge Industrial Estate, Stourbridge. In order to concentrate on the fibreglass side of things, the businesses were split and Julian specialised in making various moulds and body panels for the TVR range — including the Griffith 400 and 500, Chimaera MK1, 2 and 3, Cerbera, Tuscan MK 1 and 2, Sagaris, Tamora and the T350.
In addition to the TVR panels, Julian also makes ventilation covers, designer tables, model trains, as well as panels for cars like the Triumph Dolomite and Audi Quattro. He also does much of the repair work for two racing teams: Martin Stretton Racing and Furba Racing. He is assisted by wife Nicky who, along with duties too numerous to list here, helps with the admin side of things and wrestles with the computer!
